Liverpool native Kevin Williams makes a unique brand ofupbeat and full-bodied vocal house tracks under the name Kokiri. Hegot into music production asan adolescent, inspired by the U.K. hardcore and drum’n’bass tunes heheard played by his older brother. His interest was piqued when his sibling informed him that a certain cut was recorded in a bedroom rather than a proper studio. For then on, Williams never looked back. A little over a decade after Kokiri started to make electronic dance music with minimal means, hehad a breakthrough hit with “Turn Back Time (Retrospect)” (2015), a single released on Ministry of Sound in the U.K. andon Big Beat/Atlantic in the U.S, taking the radio airwaves by storm. Annie Mac & Pete Tong (BBC Radio 1) simply couldn’t get enough.
