Ilkay Sencan
Ilkay Sencan quietly emerged as not only Turkey’s hottest musical export this decade, but also as a tried-and-true gangsta house music trendsetter. Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Ilkay Sencan is celebrated for producing dance floor hits and holds the titles of DJ, producer, remixer. At 4 years old his parents handed him his first musical instrument as a gift. When they discovered his talent they knew he was destined to be a musician and have been supportive ever since. At the age of 17, he became interested in trance music and began to remix his favourite tracks on DAW software. At the age of 21, Ilkay went to University but struggled to engage with music due to his tight schedule and 9-5 jobs. 6 years later he realized that all he wanted in life was to pursue a music career and quit his job. He spent his time learning how to work different music software and produced more than 250 tracks in a single year. In 2006 he started DJing in small cafes and soon moved onto bars and night clubs. It was at the end of 2018 when Ilkay saw a meteoric rise in his career with his remix for “Mary Jane” by the Turkish singer Burry Soprano. The remix was instantly picked up by nightclubs around the country and went to №1 in Turkey in just a couple of weeks.
On top of producing and spinning, Ilkay Sencan recently opened the ‘Lab Recordings Dj Academy School’ in Ankara, and will soon start up another campus in Istanbul. Here he offers DJ and Music Production courses ranging from beginner to advanced levels in order to refine and broaden each scholar’s DJ talent.
