Mike Yung has shared an unlikely new collaboration with Dutch EDM producer/DJ Martin Garrix. It’s titled “Dreamer” and comes with a music video that largely revolves around the former “America’s Got Talent” contestant, including cell phone clips of his performances in the New York City subway. Martin Garrix has had so much on his plate that you can’t expect he’ll pour his entire self into every project. Hence, “Dreamer” serves more as a vehicle for Mike Yung than a cornerstone STMPD RCRDS release.
Mike Yung’s soulful vocal takes center stage in the arrangement, his memorable lyrics inspiring hope with relatable sentiments. Garrix’s influence can only be vaguely heard in the track. Even the track’s symphonic elements and slap bass samples outweigh his sheepish synth melodies.
Moreover, Mike Yung is currently on a headlining North American tour, while Martin Garrix, who has also won the title of World No1 DJ for a 3rd consecutive year, released five ADE exclusives last month. Among them you will find ‘Breath‘ with Blinders, ‘Yottabyte‘, ‘Latency‘ with Dyro, solo ‘Access‘ and also ‘Waiting For Tomorrow‘ with Pierce Fulton and Mike Shinoda on vocals.
