Dance superstar Marshmello today releases his brand-new track titled ‘Silence’ featuring critically-acclaimed 19 year-old singer-songwriter Khalid, via Joytime Collective/RCA Records, ahead of the masked American’s London festival debut at SW4 this August and his massive headline date at Brixton Academy on 21st October.
With strong emotive vocals from Khalid lacing the track, the viral DJ/producer adopts a slower tempo than his usual upbeat productions to give the release a silky smooth feel, before launching into a his instantly recognisable chord-based drop.
One of the fastest rising dance music producers around, Marshmello catapulted into the spotlight with his 2015 remix of Jack Ü and Justin Bieber’s global hit ‘Where Are Ü Now’ which collected over 36 million plays on Spotify & SoundCloud in less than six months and an additional 5 million across multiple YouTube channels. Famed for his all-white attire and instantly recognisable Mello-head, Marshmello’s singles have been explosive, gaining hundreds of millions of plays and making their way into major DJ sets.
The producer’s debut album, Joytime, charted at #1 on the iTunes Electronic Albums on release day and landed in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums. His 2016 track “Alone” propelled his monumental success with over 94 million Spotify plays and over 680 million video views.
Most recently, Marshmello released the music video for “Find Me” (Click HERE to watch), which has already amassed over 6 million views.
Joining Mello on the track is Khalid, whose ‘American Teen’ release has received mass critical acclaim with the 19 year-old subsequently embarking on his first-ever headline tour across USA and Europe. Khalid has over one billion streams worldwide across all platforms and was recently nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Song for “Location”, with the production gaining certified double platinum status in the US.
Currently in the midst of a hectic touring schedule, Marshmello has already performed in the UK this year; with a headlining show at London’s Ministry of Sound back in February, and further performances lined up at Reading and Leeds festival, Clapham’s South West Four, and Creamfields across August Bank Holiday weekend. With dates in Ibiza this summer at Ushuaia and Amnesia, as well as a recently announced headline show at Brixton’s O2 Academy in October, the masked producer has never felt more in-demand to his fanatical ‘Mellogang’ fan-base, or the dance music world as a whole.
