Dutch powerhouse duo Chocolate Puma knows how to drop house music, they’ve almost invented the term as the guys started out producing music in the early 90s, delivering club hits under several artist names.
Most famous are probably The Goodmen and Jark Prongo –just check these names on the web and discover a collection of awesome oldskool house music!
As they helped shape the original house genre, the duo always kept on producing up-to-date tunes under the name Chocolate Puma.
Recently, as oldskool house sounds have gained popularity again, this resulted in several big releases, including their summer 2015 hit single ‘I Could Be Wrong’, the Tommie Sunshine collab ’Scrub The Ground’, and collabs with Oliver Heldens, HI-LO, Laidback Luke, Sander van Doorn and, recently, Pep & Rash.
It took a few years for Moksi to perfect their kaleidoscopic sound of screaming leads and bassface-perfect subwoofer-loving drops, inspired by a mutual love of late-’90s UK garage.
But then, Moksi saw itself get noticed by world famed act Yellow Claw, who quickly signed the Dutch duo for their Barong Family label.
By now, they’ve released several hit singles, as well as remixed for the likes of DJ Snake, Valentino Khan, Hardwell and Yellow Claw.
Last year Moksi delivered their The Majestic EP, including the massive ‘Lights Down Low’, quickly followed by a major collaboration with DJ Snake of ‘Turn Down For What’ fame.
Moksi was featured on the French artist’s debut album Encore, amongst such luminaries as Skrillex, Travis Scott and even Justin Bieber.
Moksi released their most catchy single to date as a collaboration with fellow Barong Family member Chace, titled ‘For a Day’, went on a tour of Australia and then joined paters familiasYellow Claw for the huge Barong Family World Tour. Once they get going, Moksi are never slowing down.
And now, both teams have found each other in the amazing tune ‘HIPPO’. It’s a bass tinged record kicking off strong with some compelling kicks and uplifting vocal snippets. It all breaks down in a highly driven drop that floods with raw steel drums, energetic chords and rough basslines. In short, the ultimate blend of both acts’ signature sounds.
“Collaborating can be a bit tricky sometimes, because as much you can love someone’s music it still has to ‘click’ in the studio. And boy did it click with Moksi. These guys bring such a good energy and all of our ideas aligned so well that within hours we had the track done. Fun times.” – Chocolate Puma
” We always wanted to work with these pioneers. We think you can tell by listening to the song that we had a real connection in the studio. It has the typical Chocolate Puma and Moksi signature sounds. Proud of this.” – Moksi
