Norwegian breakthrough artist Sonny Alven teams up with platinum-selling Canadian act Dragonette for their new single “Awake.”
Throughout his career so far, Sonny has worked with a string of upcoming talent from around the world.
For his latest serving, he has collaborated with one of Canada’s successful exports.
Built around the rich vocals of Dragonette’s Martina Sorbara, “Awake”combines a pulsating bassline with piano melodies, and an added impact of soft percussion.
Speaking on his overall thoughts of the track, Sonny says “Awake is my latest single that I did together with Dragonette. I’ve known Dragonette’s music for many years, so I think it’s pretty cool to now be able to do a song with them. The song is a bit different from previous releases, so it’s gonna be exciting to see if people like it. I hope they do!”
Sonny’s latest serving follows on from his project titled Girls EP, which was released earlier this year.
Girls EPhas hit over 5 million Spotify plays to date and Sonny revealed a concept video to accompany the EP.
Directed by Mohammed Sarmadawy, the visual comprises of three clips which explore different relationship themes, with tracks from the project serving as its soundtrack.
Dragonette propelled into the spotlight with their single, ‘Hello’ with Martin Solveig.
Released in 2010, the track topped several singles charts across Europe and was certified multi-platinum.
From this newfound success, the band caught the attention of Swedish duo Galantis, who enlisted vocalist Martina Sorbara to sing on their multi-platinum selling single “Peanut Butter Jelly.”
Sonny will be embarking on a series of live dates from June 16, where he will play shows across his home country.
A bold display of his ability to produce a track that mixes pop and electronic sensibilities, “Awake” feels like the anthem to Sonny’s summer ahead.
