French David Guetta and Miami DJ/producer Cedric Gervais aren’t ready to let summer go just yet. The pair dropped a great house rendition of Charles & Eddie’s classic R&B/Soul gem with the same name “Would You Like to You?” included on their album “Duophonic“, released in 1992.
Rather than modernize the 1990s jam, Guetta and Gervais take it back to the 1970s with a funky disco spin backed by an EDM-style beat and build-up.
Chris Willis, the singer behind “Love don’t let me go” and “Love is Gone”, helms the vocals, his voice manipulated so that it sounds as though it’s playing through radio first thanks to heightened EQ and built in distortion.
The remix takes the emotionally laden ballad and gives it a club spin, which, funnily enough, is where it got its start.
Guetta and Gervais have been playing the track during their sets to such immense popularity they released their take on “Would I Lie to You” as an official track.
“Would I Lie to You” on Jack Back Records is available at all streaming services. Watch the Bronx-themed lyric video below.
