One of Sweden’s best performing artists Swedish Mike Perry drops into the new year with his much anticipated new single ‘Runaway‘. After reaching the incredible milestone of a billion combined streams on Spotify last month, he kicks off 2019 with an inspirational pop record, laying down a touching song that bursts out in a strong, dance infused chorus – out now on Spinnin’ Records.
Making name for himself with uplifting pop gems since he conquered the world with his 2016 breakthrough single ‘The Ocean’, Swedish Mike Perry is by now a force to be reckoned with. Every single he drops seems to turn into a multimillion streaming success, renowned for stylishly bridging the gap between pop and contemporary dance.
‘Runaway’ sees him underline this reputation with an emotionally driven song, filled with heartfelt vocals building momentum towards a strong drop, bursting out with driving beats, energizing synths stabs and jubilant melody. It’s a record obviously founded in electronic production, but with a heart of original songwriting, sweet and organic, making it one of those unique crossover tracks, bound for DJ support as well as widespread radio plays.
“I got the topline presented to me from songwriting duo The Companions and instantly fell in love with it. ‘Runaway’ was actually born on the road, with just a laptop, the topline and a super simple midi keyboard. In a way it was created all over the globe, from the topline being written in The Netherlands, the drop melody in a hotelroom in Santiago, Chile, and the arrangement and chord structure in my studio in Sweden. So yeah, a perfect example of how the music biz works nowadays.
I had this idea to make the track easy to listen to at home and also when you are sweating at a club or festival! The singalong feeling is super important in a song for me, and I think it’s really there with ‘Runaway’.” – Mike Perry
