Pendulum have today launched the latest release from their upcoming remix album – with multi-Grammy award winning Skrillex, mixing the band’s iconic 2010 anthem ‘The Island Pt. I (Dawn)’.
Taken from the platinum-selling ‘Immersion’, which topped the UK album charts, ‘The Island Pt. I (Dawn)’ received remixes from the likes of Tiesto and Steve Angello upon release, with Skrillex infusing some heavy reggae-tinged vibes, and utilising steel-drum sounds before launching into his bass-backed breakdown.
Skrillex (aka Sonny Moore) has this to say about the collaboration: “I bought a Pendulum vinyl when I was sixteen and was on tour with my band From First To Last. It made me fall in love with drum and bass, and has been an inspiration to this day. It was an honor remixing Island.”
The release follows on from previous Noisia and Icarus remixes of classic Pendulum tracks in 2018, with the special ‘Reworks’ album set to drop on 29th June.
Containing reworks from the likes of Devin Townsend, ATTLAS, Moby, DJ Seinfeld and Matrix & Futurebound, the album will be available in both CD and vinyl formats and there will also be a very special limited run of the ‘Complete Works Deluxe’ packages.
The Deluxe will be presented in a holographic laser cut box featuring the bands logo and include the 4 albums on vinyl alongside a 4 CD photo booklet focusing on the bands key moments and memories; from the history of their inception, highlights of their decade-plus spanning career, right through to the present day. The box set will see Pendulum’s first three studio albums completely remastered – the first time the albums will be available in this format, as fans will remember that ‘Hold Your Colour’ was originally a 6 track album of non-singles, whilst ‘In Silico’ was originally a 4 track EP, making these boxes incredibly rare.
Following Pendulum’s recent headline performance at London’s iconic Printworks venue – their first headline show in 7 years, the band are set to headline the BBC Radio 1 Stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals in August, and have also announced a series of live shows across Australia through June and July – their first in 8 years.
This exciting announcement marks the beginning of a new era for Pendulum, who have long been considered one of electronic music’s most important and pioneering acts, famed for their no-holds-barred live shows.
