revealed recordings inaugurates the new sub-label Gemstone with a good record from Rich Edwards and Victoria Voss, titled “Ego”. For that record Viralbpm have read EDM Reviewer and it's an accurate article that features the track as it should.
So according to EDM Reviewer this future bass production is quite interesting for the scene's standards, so it's quite recommended by us! Victoria Voss did an excellent work, her voice is new for our ears but definitely enjoyable. She dominated the break with a great performance, vibrant and delicate.
Rich Edwards worked intelligently: a calm break, with an orchestral approach, escalating in energy together with the vocal. The Swedish artist gained a lot of popularity thanks to various hits on the American label Monstercat, and he's definitively ready to bring his sound in Gemstone as well!
The delicious drop follows the same mentality, supporting the vocal loop (without chops, luckily, the voice is natural) with a catchy melody. The bassline is slightly weak for our tastes, the authors preferred maintaining a calm tone, but there is nothing wrong about it, theoretically. However, we would have preferred a bassl with more personality.
Despite that, we agree that Rich Edwards worked well, valorizing the vocal in the right way. “Ego” seems structured around Victoria Voss's voice in fact, without actually being dependent on that element. The rhythm follows its structure, but keeping a fundamental amount of personality. Difficult task, but extremely effective in the final result.
“Ego”, for future bass standards, is a good debut release for Gemstone. Always considering it as a tune focused towards a commercial audience,the song has identity, catchiness and an enjoyable mood.
