Gone are the wine coolers. Gone is the warm breeze. There’s a cold chill among the palm trees, because Kygo just remixed The Weeknd and Daft Punk‘s haunting collab “Starboy,” and damn is it dope.
It’s the most toned-down, dark, and brooding thing Kygo‘s ever touched.
It sounds, if anything, almost a little more Daft Punk-ian with languishing ’80s-esque synth runs, like a lost track from the Tron: Legacy soundtrack.
Got the chance to remix this incredible track. Hope you guys like it! –Kygo
We haven’t gotten new music from Kygo since his debut album in May, but now out of absolutely nowhere he has uploaded his brand new remix.
Playing off of Daft Punk’s production, Kygo blends his own typically mellow and melodic sounds with the originally metallic and hip hop beats for an absolute unique result.
A little bit of both worlds rather than anything definitively one way or another, Kygo has actually managed to outdo himself with this remix.
The Weeknd‘s vocal is beefier than ever, leaving plenty of space for you to make out every boastful, if slightly self-destructive, lyric. Big ups Kygo for the cool take. Throw on a leather jacket, wear your shades at night, and listen to the jam below.
