filous cruises around Amsterdam with klei for quirky “Bicycle” music video

Austrian producer / remixer filous has made quite an impression with his undeniable indie-pop bop “Bicycle”. The track, featuring English songstress klei and co-produced by Australian producer Golden Vessel, hit multiple New Music Friday playlists and has accumulated over 1.9 million streams on to date.

The absurdly adorable duo traveled to Amsterdam to shoot an appropriately quirky and adventure-filled video for the tune. And yes, there are bicycles. It's a perfect visual representation of the song. When asked about the inspiration behind the video, filous shared, “I met the director Harry Deadman only a month before we started shooting the video. When we first started talking about a concept for the video we quickly came to the realization that the focus of the video should be to reflect the fun and improvised feeling of the song. It was also really important to us to capture the unique and fresh style of klei's performance!”

Of the outstanding location choice he explains, “We decided to shoot the whole video all over The Netherlands as its one of my favorite places. So after we decided on the location and date Harry flew over part of his crew Jesse Lane (DOP) and Ntombi Moyo (Styling) and we started to shoot right away! I really love how well it captures not only the mood but also the vintage-meets-modern aesthetic of the song, as its half digital and half shot on 16mm film! We had such a great time making the video. It just felt like a bunch of friends having fun and to me the video really reflects that!

Evolving from a naturally gifted instrumentalist to precocious beatmaker to full-fledged auteur, filous – the alter-ego of 21-year old Viennese student Percy — has always been something of an enigma, driven by an incessant curiosity and a need for discovery. First showcasing his unusually inquisitive mind at the tender age of 10 years old, he soon became proficient in dozens of instruments and started to immerse himself in far-flung influences ranging from progressive jazz to country, from bluegrass to black metal. of “filous” emerged once Percy began experimenting with electronic production, teaching himself via YouTube tutorials with all of his earliest remixes built from artists he discovered on the streaming platform.

As resourceful as he is talented, the young upstart has since caught the ears of tastemakers and electronic music fans alike, which has grown his unique global footprint to over a 500 million combined YouTube, , and Spotify streams, thanks to 12+ Hypemachine #1s and his debut EP Dawn topping the iTunes electronic chart in more than 9 countries, including Switzerland, Austria, India and Russia. With Dawn and For Love, filous cemented himself as an artist to watch — toeing the line between timeless, cerebral songwriting and modernist, visceral electronic production. This earned him a European Border Breaker Award (2017), and 3 Amadeus Austrian Music Award nominations.
