Labelled by Complex as one of the ‘Top 10 British R&B Soul Artist to watch in 2018', quirky production duo WESLEE, best known for their hit single ‘Bathwater' (2 million Spotify streams), have delivered their eagerly anticipated EP, ‘9F', a diverse and dynamic 7-track embodiment of their rich alternative R&B sounds.
Made up of US born Josh, and English vocalist Emma, WESLEE's EP follows the recent release of rhythmic single ‘Sweat Dreams' (number #1 on Hype Machine, and listed as one of Paper magazine's ‘10 songs you need to start your weekend right'), and names itself after Emma's favorite seat on a plane, with much of the EP recorded in between flights – with Emma based in Brooklyn and Josh in London. The duo enlisted good friend Alice Skinner to deliver the artwork for the EP, further illustrating what can be a rather challenging working relationship when done long distance.
Leading with fresh new single ‘Somebody', a smooth production led by Emma's typically eloquent tones, the eclectic EP also features a range of soulful numbers, including ‘BoysCry', and the guitar plucks of ‘BetterLove'.
Having established themselves as the one of the most refreshing and uniquely dynamic acts in today's music scene, WESLEE have amassed over 4.5 million streams on Apple/Beats Music and performed for BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac at her AMP event, where they were joined by Jessie Ware and Sunflower Bean, as well as Annie herself.
After catapulting themselves into the mainstream eye with debut track ‘Gassed', which was the subject of high critical acclaim, WESLEE scored a wealth of support from industry heavyweights such as BBC Radio 1's pete tong & Danny Howard. The station awarded the track the honor of their prestigious ‘Hottest Record in the World'.
With 9F also including recent WESLEE production ‘Tongue Tied', WESLEE's EP is set for release on June 8th, the same day that the pair kick-start their tour with a performance at Baby's Alright during New York's Northside Festival. The duo will also take the festival's main-stage on Sunday June 10th for an additional performance at Northside Festival's Block Party in Brooklyn.
