Hexagon leader Don Diablo (No. 36 on our just-released Billboard Dance 100) shared his 16-track debut album FUTURE in February and now adds “Believe” to the mix on his deluxe edition on his Hexagon label. The piano-driven house hymn features none other than Baby Driver star and musician Ansel Elgort.
The lyrics are rather heavy in emotion, with Elgort singing, “Do you believe in me? We believed in you.” But before watching the official video let's see what Don and Ansel say back to back about their track:
Ansel: Don and I have been friends since 2013 and have always been big fans of each other. We've talked about collaborating since then.
Don: When I met Ansel I knew he was a very talented actor but when I first heard him sing he totally blew my mind.
Ansel: ‘Believe' started as an instrumental that Don sent me in late 2015 I always loved it but wasn't sure what to write to it that would be as epic as Don's production.
Don: It took a while for us to finish the record but we wanted it to be something we both truly loved.
Ansel: I was inspired by Freddie Mercury's epic song writing, something that could be an arena anthem but also holds deeper meaning.”
Don: After Ansel's vocals were recorded I got so inspired I ended up lifting the instrumental itself as well and I feel we both delivered a song that we can be proud of for the years to come.
