Joel Zimmerman, aka Deadmau5 is a man who needs no introduction. With his brand new Cube 2.1 and upcoming tour it looks like we are getting some unreleased music as well, as he dropped a ‘new’ song titled ‘Polaris‘ on the just realeased Mau5trap – We Are Friends, Vol 6. ‘Polaris’ is a song that has been played before in Deadmau5 sets, but never officially released. Its be hailed by fans as 1 of the best unreleased Deadmau5 tracks, and I’d have to agree.
The song was ID’d by Joel early on as ‘Crampy Bitch‘ after a lady that caused an emergency landing on one of Joel’s flights, but has officially been renamed ‘Polaris‘. This song just screams old school Deadmau5. At over 9 minutes long, its a song that keeps on giving and has all the Deadmau5 drops, and build ups you can ask for. After waiting what feels like forever, we finally get the official version, and the wait was WELL worth it. Enjoy the feels.
However, the newly released tracks ‘Polaris’ and ‘Bad at Titles‘ w/ATLAS are uniquely different from one another, yet perfectly embody everything Deadmau5. ‘Polaris,’ which Zimmerman has used as the opener for many of his previous sets, takes us back to timeless classics like ‘Faxing Berlin‘ and ‘Brazil.’ It is the luscious, melodic, and emotionally driven electric melody you never knew you needed. It makes you gasp, ‘this. is. Deadmau5.’ Listen below, or download here.
