BUY: SAN HOLO – ‘Can’t Forget You’ [Spinnin’ Records]

Seamlessly weaving The Nicholas’ vocals with rich synth harmonies, San Holo’s new cut builds in emotion and energy from start to finish. With a thumping melodic topline propped up by chordal stabs and hammering percussion, ‘Can’t Forget You’ dabbles in the bubblegum-side of the genre whilst still maintaining some serious punch we know and love from the young producer.

Few can dispute the raw talent of Sander Van Djick aka San Holo. Still relatively fresh on the scene, his music has reached astounding levels of popularity– most notably his remix of Dr. Dre’s The Next Episode, which is currently resting at 52 million views on YouTube and forms one part of San’s wildly popular ‘Don’t Touch The Classics’ remix collection.

With a world tour this year across North America, Canada and Europe, his fans are as far reaching as they are loyal; a testament to both his popularity as a producer as well as his energy as a performer.

Having launched his label ‘bitbird’ at ADE this year, released his Victory EP on Monstercat, and with a string of sold out shows behind him (including a Tomorrowland debut) with more on the horizon in Australia and New Zealand, San Holo is certainly worthy of the ‘one to watch’ accolade for 2016.

Tobtok ft. River – Fast Car [disco:wax]

23-year old prodigious talent Tobtok has caused a stir in the music scene with his third and latest single, a remake of Tracy Chapman’s classic ‘Fast Car’. Remaking the track from a fresh contemporary standpoint, the Swedish producer adeptly combines tropical sentiment with upbeat pop character.

‘Fast Car’ features the soulful vocals of London-based singer-songwriter River who collaborated with Tobtok on previous single ‘Savanna’. ‘Fast Car’ ft. River is out now on Nordic label disco:wax and is available to purchase via all digital retailers.

As the iconic guitar riff introduces the track, a layered and mesmerising top line from vocalist River echoes the sentiment of Tracy Chapman’s original, yet gives the track a new and distinct feel. Feather-light synth work, powerful piano stabs and a melodic guitar hook carry the track as it bursts into life.

The track’s real highlight is the exquisite breakdown as harmonised vocals are layered atop the soft, soul-soothing acoustic chord progression. An undeniable feel-good track, ‘Fast Car’ ft. River is suitably sun-kissed and exquisitely produced. The beautiful vocals and production quality certainly pay homage to the original track and once again prove Tobtok’s indisputable talent.

BUY: TOBTOK – ‘FAST CAR’ FT. RIVER

Hailing from Uppsala, Sweden – a town well known for its young, creative crowd and vibrant music scene, Tobias Karlsson, aka Tobtok has been steadily cementing his status as the town’s most exciting musical export.  With recent remixes for the likes of The Magician, Ella Henderson and Icona Pop as well as serious airtime on BBC Radio 1, after Zane Lowe announced his track ‘Higher’ as the Hype Track of the Week, Tobtok is already a standout figure on the musical landscape.

This summer saw him play alongside industry superstars Avicii, Axwell & Ingrosso and Martin Garrix at festivals around the world such as Creamfields, Summerfade and Sziget. His ability to fuse deep house, disco and tropical genres has gathered him widespread appeal both in his home region of Scandinavia and beyond. As we approach the end of the year, Tobtok is making a lasting statement with ‘Fast Car’ and is undoubtedly destined for great things in 2016.

Inpetto – Lifting [Mixmash]

Inpetto, one of the hottest sibling DJ/production duos around, are back with another track destined for dancefloor success. Out on Laidback Luke’s respected Mixmash imprint, ‘Lifting’ will be released on the 30th November.

Hailing from Dorsten, Germany, brothers Dirk and Marco Duderstadt are no strangers to success – their 1999 record ‘Toca’s Miracle’ has featured in the UK Top 20 an impressive 3 times. They are hotly in-demand remixers, their efforts earning them glowing praise from the likes of Axwell, David Guetta, Above & Beyond, and Sander Van Doorn.

Their original productions, however, offer Inpetto a chance to shine on their own – with ‘Lifting’ being the latest example of their talents.

An unashamedly joyful party track, ‘Lifting’’s attention-grabbing intro features sunny piano chords and powerful female vocals. Accelerating drums lead into an irresistibly catchy breakdown. Taking a big-room approach to the garage 2-step beat, the anthemic synths of ‘Lifitng’ compliment the pitched-up vocals for an uplifting track that demonstrates Inpetto’s skill for crafting – as Axwell put it – “amazing productions with a fantastic balance of beautiful melodies and power for the dancefloor.”

On June – The Devil’s Tears (Sam Feldt Edit) [Spinnin’ Deep]

For this next release, Sam Feldt has lent his talents to the Finland-based producer On June for an edit of his cover of Angus & Julia Stone’s ‘The Devil’s Tears’. The Dutchman maintains the integrity of the chilled-out house original, while also injecting extra strings, and his own percussive elements, like bongos and shakers, to give it a fresh groove for the dancefloor.

Already supported by house heads like Robin Schulz, Lost Frequencies, EDX, Felix Jaehn, Klingande and Bakermat, as well as reaching high praise in the blogosphere, it’s a track getting more popular by the day – and surely a record that underlines Sam Feldt’s triumphal path these days!

Tujamo & Taio Cruz – Booty Bounce (Vocal Mix) [Spinnin]

For sure, ‘Booty Bounce’ was one of those omnipresent tracks this summer, brought by Tujamo, the German electro don surpassing himself with a nasty, hip shakin’ electro tune. By now, the video of the original track counts over 8 million views, while major artists like Hardwell, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Tiësto and Avicii already expressed their support and featured the track in their recent performances.

Now, the bounce continues, as Taio Cruz has added his characteristic vocals to the track. The Brit Award winner is known for his songwriting and vocal work, both in pop, R&B and dance music, and already collaborated successfully with artists like David Guetta, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Rihanna. Working his magic on ‘Booty Bounce’ seems a masterstroke, adding even more bounce flavor and filthiness to the tune.

Again, the track got major DJ support, as well as airplay on a wide range of stations, from Europe and Russia to Asia and the US.

And now it’s finally out, released on Spinnin’ Records today, available for stream on SoundCloud right here:

The Acid – Red (Olaf Stuut Remix) [Infectious Records]

The Acid came together as collaborative project between British Grammy-nominated producer and DJ Adam Freeland, Californian polymath Steve Nalepa and Australian vocalist/producer/cult folk artist Ry X. Breaking ground in 2013 with their debut self-titled EP, the trio quickly followed up with second release ‘Liminal’, a critically acclaimed work which showcased the collective’s influences and intended direction by giving  clear nods to artists such as Portishead, Aphex Twin and Thom Yorke. The Acid are an act which penetrates a range of genres – from techno to R&B, deep house and beyond.

Having made a name for himself via his dreamy productions on the underground’s premiere imprints including Cocoon, Manual Music, and TRAUMOlaf Stuut was an obvious choice to rework ‘Red’.

Straying away from the original’s decidedly nocturnal aura, Olaf’s interpretation of the sultry beat and rolling bassline is several shades darker, and undeniably more club ready. Taking the listener on a journey through vastly different soundscapes, this reinterpretation showcases the Dutch producer’s more fractured approach to electronica. The result has a more purposeful beat that takes the track to an altogether more atmospheric place.

Stuut’s adaptation of the original vocal also helps steer the track through its new path to deep-seated melancholia. The sultry male vocal retaining its mesmeric flow dances effortlessly over the enduring bassline and at times glitchy synth interchanges, now peppered with the introduction of flutes.

The beat’s pace accelerates throughout the remix before a barrage of heavy drum kicks and quickening claps take the track on an upward climbing crescendo, breaking out into full on club roller and once again highlighting the track’s potential as a well rounded club record.

Fedde Le Grand – The Noise [Darklight Records]

A true dance music legend that needs little in the way of introduction, Fedde Le Grand is treating his global fan-base to yet another foot stomper in the shape of ‘The Noise’- out now on Darklight Records.

Download / Watch / Stream ‘The Noise’

Living up to its name in all the best possible ways, ‘The Noise’ is a supercharged and energetic dance record that, although a slight departure from Fedde’s usual production style, has been sending revellers into a bass induced frenzy the world over. Already catching the attention of industry heavyweights including Tiesto, Twoloud, W&W, and Dannic, Fedde has ensured his return to the studio has resulted in yet another main stage monster set to dominate the clubs all the way into 2016.

This latest release follows on from Fedde’s huge remix of Faithless’ magnum opus – Insomnia, a track that proved a firm favourite throughout his South American Ultra Tour this year and continues to wow crowds at Fedde’s show in all corners of the globe. Halfway through his current tour of Asia, with 7 mammoth shows remaining including Seoul, Beijing and Jakarta, Fedde will quite literally be bringing ‘The Noise’ to his remaining shows, cementing his DJ Mag Top 100 status and fuelling the excitement surrounding his full album release early next year.
